5 ways Document Inspections Can Verify Suspect Counterfeit Parts When we think about ‘counterfeit mitigation’, we often imagine specialized equipment such as a SEM (scanning electron microscope) or X-ray machines. But every counterfeit mitigation job starts with one critical step that helps identify suspect parts: a document inspection. During document inspections, eComp inspects supplied documentation to ensure that all required documents are included. We also examine the documentation for originality and applicability to the delivered material. Some key areas of the inspection include, but are not limited to:… Click here to read more.

Vigilance against counterfeit devices is more important than ever… The electronics industry has been battling counterfeit electronic devices and components for many years. Compounded by the ease of purchasing goods off the internet, the proliferation of counterfeit devices has become a global problem. This same open marketplace now threatens the safety of millions as counterfeiters seek to replicate and reproduce life-saving devices and medications. From counterfeit resin in pelvic mesh to sub-standard hardware implanted into patients during surgeries, concern continues to grow. For sixteen years, eComp has been helping engineers, OEMs and system integrators identify suspect counterfeit devices across multiple industries. We are proud to announce our participation in an upcoming seminar hosted by the Medical Developer’s Group (MDG Boston). The seminar will help identify techniques for battling counterfeit medical devices, components and supplies. During the event, you will learn how to detect counterfeit products, protect your supply chain and insulate your customers from counterfeits. Also, industry specialists will help you develop best practices to avoid counterfeits during your manufacturing process. Finally, agencies are on hand to help you work with the government to stop the federal flow of counterfeits. We hope that you’ll join us in discussing what… Click here to read more.
Why do I need to worry about power protection? A business that lacks a power protection and recovery plan faces two major risks that often feed off one another. The first risk involves physical or digital assets owned by the company. These mission critical assets are things like email servers, lab equipment, production equipment and user documents. The second risk represents a loss of time and man hours when an event requires recovery from equipment failures or data loss. Even events that last 10 seconds or less require anywhere from fifteen minutes to several hours of recovery. Every minute that goes by costs your business in lost revenue and man hours. This makes power protection an important part of any proactive action plan you implement. The solutions offered by eComp through our partnership with Eaton will mitigate the risk to your business, saving valuable time and money. What can I do to minimize these risks before an outage? Assess your current equipment to make sure that it is protected by a UPS (uninterruptible power supply). This allows for a graceful shutdown or a swap to standby power in the event of a power failure. Many businesses attempt to use consumer… Click here to read more.
Risk averse procurement shouldn’t be a toss of the dice Recently, eComp was asked by our customer to provide a risk averse solution for their 1970’s airborne platform currently in ‘sustainment’ mode. The customer’s electronic sensor used a MT-42 plastic packaged MT4xxx high-gain transistor that was long out of production. This transistor performed a critical function in the operation of the sensor, making re-design a difficult proposition.… Click here to read more.
